Data Sources

Yahoo Finance	Primary data source for all price, volume, options chain, and earnings data. Unofficial API — free, no key required. Accessed via local proxy server to bypass CORS restrictions.
Local proxy server	Python Flask server running on localhost:8080. Routes all Yahoo Finance requests server-side so the browser can access them. Required because Yahoo Finance blocks direct browser requests.
Claude Sonnet 4.6	Anthropic AI model used for all analysis. Accessed directly from browser via API key. Pricing: $3.00/M input tokens, $15.00/M output tokens. Web search adds ~$0.01–$0.40 per search call.
Robinhood MCP	Connected via Claude's MCP integration for watchlist sync. No Robinhood credentials are stored in the dashboard — all watchlist changes go through Claude.

Technical Indicators

RSI (14)	Relative Strength Index over 14 periods. Calculated using Wilder's smoothing method: compares average gains to average losses. Range 0–100. <30 = oversold (potential buy), >70 = overbought (potential sell), 40–60 = neutral. Calculated from daily closes by default; intraday 5-minute bars used for day trade analysis.
MACD	Moving Average Convergence Divergence. Calculated as EMA(12) minus EMA(26). Positive = bullish momentum, negative = bearish. Signal line (EMA 9 of MACD) not currently displayed. Uses exponential moving average with multiplier k = 2/(period+1).
MA20 / MA50 / MA200	Simple Moving Averages over 20, 50, and 200 daily closing prices. Calculated as the arithmetic mean of the last N closes. MA20 = short-term trend, MA50 = medium-term, MA200 = long-term. Price above MA = bullish, below = bearish.
vs MA20	Percentage distance of current price from the 20-day moving average. Formula: (Price − MA20) / MA20 × 100. Positive = price above MA20 (bullish), negative = below (bearish).
RVol (Relative Volume)	Today's trading volume divided by the 20-day average daily volume. RVol > 1.5x = elevated activity (better for day trading). RVol > 2x = high conviction, displayed in bold. Calculated from Yahoo Finance volume data.
MTF (Multi-Timeframe)	Compares daily and weekly trend direction. Daily: price vs MA20. Weekly: price vs 10-week MA. ↑↑ = both timeframes bullish, ↓↓ = both bearish, ↑↓ or ↓↑ = mixed signals. Calculated from 3-month daily and 6-month weekly Yahoo Finance data.
MA9 (5m)	9-period simple moving average of 5-minute intraday bars. Used only in day trade analysis when data is cached. Acts as a short-term intraday trend indicator.
VWAP (est.)	Volume Weighted Average Price — estimated as the simple average of intraday 5-minute closing prices. Note: true VWAP requires tick-level data; this is an approximation. Used as a reference level in day trade analysis.

Scanner Signal Calculation

Bullish signal	2 or more of the following are true: RSI < 40 (oversold), MACD > 0 (positive momentum), Price > MA20, Price > MA50 (swing mode only). Each condition scores +1 point; score ≥ 2 = bullish.
Bearish signal	2 or more of the following are true: RSI > 60 (overbought), MACD < 0 (negative momentum), Price < MA20, Price < MA50 (swing mode only). Score ≤ −1 = bearish.
Neutral signal	Mixed indicators — score between −1 and +2. Neither clearly bullish nor bearish. Wait for confirmation.

UOA (Unusual Options Activity) Scoring

Vol/OI ratio	Volume divided by Open Interest. Measures how unusual today's trading is relative to existing positions. Ratio > 1 = more contracts traded today than currently exist (highly unusual). Minimum thresholds: Vol ≥ 50, OI ≥ 10 to filter illiquid contracts.
UOA score (scanner)	Composite 0–100 score. Vol/OI ratio: up to 40 pts. Total premium size: up to 30 pts. Number of unusual contracts: up to 15 pts. Signal alignment bonus (calls on bullish stock, puts on bearish): +15 pts. Only contracts with Vol/OI ≥ 2x, Vol ≥ 50, OI ≥ 10, and DTE 0–60 days are included.
🔥 Extreme	UOA score ≥ 70 OR max Vol/OI ≥ 10x. Indicates very unusual institutional activity. Often precedes large price moves.
⚡ High	UOA score ≥ 45 OR max Vol/OI ≥ 5x. Notable flow worth investigating further. Check news and chart context.
👀 Notable	UOA score ≥ 20 OR max Vol/OI ≥ 2x. Mild unusual activity. Monitor for follow-through.
Premium	Total dollar value of unusual contracts: Volume × Mid price × 100. Higher premium = larger institutional commitment. $1M+ is considered significant institutional flow.

Support & Resistance Detection

Swing highs/lows	Scans historical closes with a 5-bar lookback window. A price that is higher than all 5 bars before and after it is a swing high (resistance). Lower than all = swing low (support).
Price clustering	Nearby swing levels within 0.5% of each other are merged into a single level. The strength score reflects how many times price has touched that level — higher strength = stronger S/R.
MA levels	MA20 and MA50 are included as dynamic S/R levels with a fixed strength of 3. Moving averages often act as support (when price is above) or resistance (when price is below).
52-bar high/low	The highest and lowest closing prices over the last 52 bars (roughly a quarter). These key extremes are added with strength 4. Only levels within 15% of current price are displayed.

Options Data

Greeks source	Delta, gamma, theta, vega, and IV are provided directly by Yahoo Finance's options chain API (via yfinance library). These are real market-derived values, not estimated.
Delta	Rate of change of option price per $1 move in the underlying. Range: 0 to 1 for calls, −1 to 0 for puts. Delta 0.50 = ATM. Higher delta = more sensitive to price moves.
Gamma	Rate of change of delta per $1 move. High gamma near expiration means delta changes rapidly. Important for managing risk on short-dated options.
Theta	Daily time decay in option value. Negative for option buyers (lose value each day). Theta accelerates as expiration approaches, especially in the last 30 days.
Vega	Change in option price per 1% change in implied volatility. Higher vega = more sensitive to IV changes. Important when trading around earnings or macro events.
Implied Volatility (IV)	Market's expectation of future price movement, expressed as annualized percentage. Higher IV = more expensive options. IV spikes before earnings and macro events. Source: Yahoo Finance options chain.

Price & Change Calculations

Day change %	((Current price − Previous close) / Previous close) × 100. Previous close is taken from Yahoo Finance's chartPreviousClose field, validated against the prior daily bar. If they differ by more than 10%, the closer value is used.
Pre/Post price	Extended hours price from Yahoo Finance (postMarketPrice or preMarketPrice). Post-market takes priority when both are available. Change shown vs today's regular session close.
Market context change	For SPY, QQQ, IWM, VIX, SOXX, XLF: change calculated from Yahoo Finance's regularMarketPrice vs chartPreviousClose. Sanity check applied — if previous close differs from current price by more than 20% it is flagged as stale.
